3. THE REGION OF SERRES
Serres is a medium size town, with a population of about 80.000 people. It is located in the north part of Greece, on a mountainous terrain, 80 km. away from Thessaloniki (closest airport - SKG).
Within a distance of 70 km. one can visit a ski resort, a lake, a cave, archaeological sites, beaches, thermal baths and many more natural and cultural attractions.
The region of Serres was honoured with a "European Destination of Excellence" award in 2010 in the category "Aquatic Tourism".
