ΕΑ503 – Artistic Applications in the Urban Space

The basic structure of the course is to introduce the students to the concepts of artistic creation in the public space.
Especially public art as a member of the public space or as an invader from the 1960s onwards makes its presence felt through different expressions. Several of the works and movements of this period are created and placed in the public space with traditional principles and as usual have a permanent character. Some other projects are transitional in nature.
The course is developed through practical exercises with the parallel support of theoretical analysis through lectures.
The purpose is to get to know new forms of spatial planning, the implementation of projects that are created "in situ", i.e., on the spot and treat the public space as a field of temporary accommodation and familiarization with concepts such as: Mix-media Installations, Happenings, Video Projection Mapping, Sound Art, Video Art, Performance and other art forms that use analog, multimedia applications.
The course aims to create practical exercises through the production of new research ideas with different materials of texture and composition. At the same time, the basic content of the course is the study of volumes in relation to colors and lighting and their application in urban space and their interconnection with architecture and artistic production.
